Vegetarian Barbecue What Should You Do?

Is there really such a thing as a vegetarian barbecue? I don’t think so because BBQ is all about heating means that around 220° for several hours and using smoke to give the meat of great taste. you cannot do that with veggies or fruits or tofu just turned black.

So what should a vegetarian do for a barbecue? Well my 1st advice would be to come to the dark side and either tiny tiny tiny piece of meat.

Vegetarian Barbecue

You know the meat will not bite you as it is being cooked. and you know you can get all of your nutrients from being a vegetarian that’s why you have to take vitamin and mineral supplements and guess where some of them come from anything they may come from meat protein.

So why not at your next invitation to a barbecue consider instead of of veggie-barbecue going one step further, be adventurous and have 1 barbecue rib.

I Was Once Into Vegetarian Bbq Ideas

Believe it or not there was a time when I experimented with vegetarian barbecue recipes. The reason was a very simple I was a poor medical student and I was living on a limited budget. Also where I live there was no beef only chicken. I remember one time splurging by going out and buying some meat that was imported from Argentina.

I decided to make myself a hamburger and proceeded to fry the meat up in my skillet guess what happened? Well the meet started to disintegrate as it was mainly fat instead of being 80% protein 20% fat I have a feeling it was 20% proteins and 80% fat. So I was left with some grease and a tiny piece of meat at the bottom of my skillet.

Vegetarian Bbq Ideas

So when I was in school I went into the cafeteria to get some lunch and noticed that they had hamburgers and hot dogs. I was so happy being here in the Third World with some real beef meat.

Well I got myself a hamburger and a hot dog after my hamburger melted down at home. Well guess what it did not taste like meat from a good old American cow. no my friend this was soy! I had crossed from the meat line to the dark side I had become a vegetarian.

Or I’m not sure what you would call somebody who spend 4 years with vegetarian-barbecue-recipes eating only yogurt-soy burgers and soy franks and occasionally a piece of fish every 6 months. I really was not in to eggs so I managed to survive on pita bread, hummus, tehina, and soy shaped to imitate a hamburger or hot dogs.

Things are a lot better today for the Vegetarian Barbecue

Today in the year 2016 you can get vegetarian barbecue ribs that really look and taste like meat barbecue. Yes our advanced technology has made it possible for soy to resemble baby back rib. And you can get Boca burgers that’s the brand that taste just like real hamburgers complete with the smoky flavor.

These guys are real geniuses and I wish I had them when I was in college and medical school instead of eating the 1st models of soy burgers where they were experimenting with soy replacement for me.

after 4 years of exile from real meat like a T-bone steak I was so happy to get back to the US I headed straight to the waffle-house and got myself a T-bone steak with eggs and some waffles.

Oh I forgot to mention that they did have schwarma which was at the time expensive but I used to get that I think 4 times a year. I really had no time to go downtown where the schwarma was located.

Grilled Vegetable Recipes Good As A Side

Grilled Vegetable Recipes

Grilled vegetable-recipes are very easy to do and are perfect to complement your meats as a side dish.

Some Basic Tips About Grilling Vegetables:

Grilling vegetables are a very simple procedure to master.

The first thing is to wash your vegetables well.

Fire up your grill and place it on medium heat. Vegetables only take around 5 to 10 min. to cook on medium heat when you will know that they are done when the outer skin starts to blister and become brown and soft.

In general prior to grilling fellow vegetables we’d like to brush them with olive oil. Use regular olive oil because the extra-virgin olive oil has a fruity taste.

I’ll talk about some of the more common vegetables to put on the grill now.

Asparagus is a popular vegetable to grill. Prior to grilling asparagus brush with olive oil and place on the grill and watch to turn it over when one side starts to brown.

This should take no longer than 4 to 8 min. to cook. Serve your grilled asparagus with sprinkle Parmesan cheese for the great barbecue side.

Grilled Bell Peppers Recipes:

Another good vegetable for grilling. So wash open it up with a knife and take out the seeds and the core.

The bell pepper into wide strips and brushes them with olive oil. Place on the grill with medium heat and roast the strips excited for products on 4 min. to know that their red pepper is done when it starts to turn brown. There was no place for the red pepper to hide except in your mouth.

Corn is easy to grill. Open the stalk of fresh corn but leave the husk on and brush the corn with olive oil. Close the husk around the corner and stick them on top of the grill it should take approximately 10 min. to grill the corn.

Grilled Jalapeno Poppers Recipes

The Jalapeno pepper is a pepper that many people can tolerate. But then there are a person for whom this pepper is just to hot even thou Jalapeno is down at the bottom of the hot peppers.

Jalapeno can be made milder by grilling them and they are softer and taster in my opinion. Just grill them until the skin starts to turn dark and take them off the grill with tongs ,always wear your grill mitts.

Grilled Portabello Mushrooms With Goat Cheese

Grilled vegetable recipes made easy for beginners this is one of my favorites-you know what makes goat cheese taste so good-there is a chemical similar to butyric acid that gives it that tangy taste. I learned this in college many years ago,

There are easy grilled-appetizers that you can make in a few minutes that will make your guests think you went to cooking school . But you did write here!grilled mushrooms

Grilled mushrooms are a great appetizer because they are meaty and easy to prepare. I like to use the big portabello mushrooms because they are meaty in fact its like eating a steak!grilled portabella mushrooms get a box of portabello mushrooms and prepare them as follows :

  1. Marinade them in a few hours in your favorite salad dressing-I think Italian is my favorite.
  2. Cut of the stems and prepare a fire on the charcoal grill get the fire going and then cook each side of the mushroom for 5-10 minutes.
  3. After cooking crumble your favorite cheese on top of the mushroom-my favorite are romano, parmesan, also great is goat cheese or cream cheese.
  4. Serve on a plate to your guests on real plates with a fork and knife because a grilled portabello is like eating steak.
